AgōnPrivacy policy
Agōn is an accountability program for men, run by Mark Sentell as a sole proprietor (“Agōn,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you visit agon1230.com, apply, or take part in a cohort, and what we do with it. If you have questions, email support@agon1230.com.
What we collect
- Your application: your name, email, phone (if you give it), age, time zone, your written answers, and, if you're 17, a parent or guardian's name and email.
- Your membership: your chosen call time, your disciplines, the fines you set, and your signed covenant (the name you typed, the date, and the covenant version).
- Your accounts: the disciplines you report as kept or missed each day, grace-day requests, call attendance, mission nominations, and votes.
- Payments: Stripe collects your bank account or card details directly. We never see or store your full account or card number. We keep a record of your invoices and fines.
- Technical data: our server keeps basic logs (IP address, time, and page requested) for security. The public pages use no advertising or tracking cookies. The admin console uses one sign-in cookie for staff.
How we use it
- To review your application and decide on your acceptance.
- To run your cohort: send your evening prompts, track your disciplines, streaks, and attendance, and calculate your fines.
- To bill your membership and fines, and to give the fines to your cohort's chosen mission cause.
- To contact you about your membership.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who can see it
- Mark and cohort captains see your full record so they can lead your cohort and care for you.
- Your cohort sees a daily summary of your account (for example, “4/5 daily, 12-day streak”), plus your streak and completion percentages on the cohort's board. Individual missed disciplines aren't posted.
- All Agōn members can see the weekly #leaderboard, which shows only top streaks (by name and cohort), each cohort's completion percentage, and jar totals.
- Service providers handle data on our behalf: Stripe (payments), Slack (the workspace and bot), DigitalOcean (hosting), Google Fonts (page fonts), and our email provider. Each handles data under its own privacy policy.
- Legal reasons: we may disclose information when the law requires it, or when someone's safety is at risk.
What's said in cohort
Calls aren't recorded by Agōn. Every member agrees in the covenant to keep what his brothers confess inside the cohort. The only exception is when someone's safety is at risk. We can't guarantee that every member will keep that promise, so share what you're comfortable sharing.
How long we keep it
We keep membership and payment records for as long as you're a member, then for up to seven years for tax and accounting purposes. If an application isn't accepted, we delete it within 12 months. You may ask us to delete your information sooner. Records we're required to keep for accounting will be kept, and everything else will be deleted.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing support@agon1230.com. You can leave the Slack workspace at any time. Leaving doesn't end your membership or any amount you owe; see the terms.
Members who are 17
Agōn is for men 17 and older. A 17-year-old can join only with a parent or guardian's consent and co-signature, and the parent or guardian may ask to see or delete his information. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 17.
Security
Data is stored on a private server, and all connections are encrypted over HTTPS. Access is limited to Mark and cohort captains. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect what you share.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll post the new version here and tell current members in Slack.
